Thanks to the people (for order preparation and shipping), the bare-root rose received is small but appears healthy to me. Planted near the 'Ann Boleyn' variety, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... or not?

More information

The small pompom flowers of this bush display a unique hue, a purplish pink that sometimes leans towards violet. They form large bouquets that bloom quite late in the June-July season on long, flexible branches, almost without thorns. With a graceful habit, this bush also bears very healthy vibrant and shiny green foliage. An excellent variety, not demanding, awarded numerous times!

Description

The 'Allevia' bush rose has many qualities recognised in international rose competitions. It is a modern hybrid with a slightly fan-shaped habit, flowering continuously until late autumn, with almost prickless stems. These beautiful bouquets gather numerous small pompon flowers in deep pink to dark violet shades. Very versatile, with healthy foliage, this rose can be planted in flower beds, as a standalone plant, in a flower border, or a container. Its colour can easily be paired with many other colours in the garden.

The Allevia® rose 'Vel15mrora' is a Belgian creation from Lens Roses dating back to 2019. It is derived, among other things, from the musk rose (Rosa (x) moschata), a spontaneous hybrid probably originating from Asia Minor or the Middle East. Similar to polyanthas and floribundas, roses in this family produce flowers grouped in bouquets, but their colours are more refined, and they have a more flexible and graceful habit. 'Allevia' shows rapid growth and develops slightly trailing stems, almost without prickles. Its habit is fan-shaped. If left unrestricted, this small bush reaches an average height of 90 cm (35in) with a 1 m (3ft) spread. Its leaves are divided into glossy elliptical leaflets with a vibrant green colour. Absent in winter, the deciduous foliage is highly resistant to rose diseases. Flowering begins in June until October or November if the soil is not too dry in summer. It forms large pyramidal bouquets composed of numerous small double flowers measuring 3 cm (1in) in diameter. Their colour ranges from deep pink to mauve-pink, even violet. The flowers have a light, pleasant fragrance. The hardiness of this rose is estimated at -15°C (5°F).

This 'Allevia' bush rose thrives in well-prepared soil, tolerates relatively dry soils, and does not require pruning apart from removing dead wood. Plant it in a rose bed, a small flowering hedge with other botanical or old roses, modest-sized lilacs (Syringa microphylla superba), or even Japanese quinces. It will look stunning next to the 'Rozanne' perennial geranium, with lavenders or catmints. Also, consider pairing it with a viticella group clematis, as easy-going as all these shrubs.

Awards:
- Le Roeulx, 2018, Certificate of Merit
- Madrid, 2019, Rose of Madrid
- Rose Trials of Warsaw, 2020, Crystal Rose Award from the Polish Association of Rose Breeders.

Planting and care

To plant your 'Allevia' rose, prepare your soil to a depth of 30 cm (12in) by crumbling the soil and adding a base amendment such as blood, fish and bone at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your plant, removed from its pot, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. Also, remember to apply special rose fertiliser to stimulate flowering.

Roses may appear stained or unsightly at the end of summer, but these blemishes are natural and do not harm the plant's growth.
