Rosa x moschata 'Finn's Rose' - Musk Rose

The 'Finn's Rose' bush rose is a recent variety that offers the most seductive flowering. Gathered in long, narrow clusters, countless flowers provide an uninterrupted spectacle from June to October. Its bushy form and natural habit give it a graceful and elegant posture. This vigorous bush produces numerous semi-double dog roses of medium size in a pretty coral pink colour, opening flat to reveal their stamens. They emit a light and delicate fragrance. This variety is perfectly suited for flower beds, borders, and edging, thanks to its multiple advantages. It can also be grown in pots to enhance sunny terraces, balconies, or patios.

Unveiled in 2021, the Rosa x moschata 'Finn's Rose' or 'Vel19mapje' is a creation of Louis Lens Roses, a Belgian nursery established in 1870 and located in Oudenburg (between Bruges and Ostend) since 1992. At the famous competition in Roeulx, Belgium, it won the Silver Medal in the "Bouquet Flowering - Double Flowers" category in 2021 and the "Elite Rose" distinction in 2022 (2021 competition). The Rosa moschata, which belongs to the Rosaceae family, is native to Asia Minor or the Middle East. Although its original species has disappeared, some of its descendants, still present today, generally emit a musky fragrance.

'Finn's Rose' is a fast-growing variety, forming a dense, bushy plant. It can reach a height of 1 to 1.20 metres (3 to 4 feet) and a spread of 0.80 to 1 metre (3 feet). This bush is characterized by relatively thornless and slightly trailing branches, which bear leaves composed of seven leaflets in a beautiful deep green colour, adding an ornamental touch to the plant. The deciduous foliage turns yellow before falling off for winter. From June to October, it offers abundant and continuous flowering. In a bright pink tone, the floral buds open into gorgeous semi-double flat flowers about 6 cm (2in) in diameter, in a beautiful coral pink colour, surrounding a centre filled with yellow stamens. The flowers are clustered, forming a panicle of 4 to 40 flowers. To maintain continuous flowering, it is recommended to remove faded flowers regularly. This variety offers abundant flowering, which is attractive to bees and often continues until frost if the soil does not dry out too much in summer. It is common to observe flowers and hips on the plant simultaneously, with the fruits being very decorative even in winter. The roses emit a delicate fragrance of warm honey and cloves, reminiscent of the subtle scent of Rosa multiflora.

The magnificent 'Finn's Rose' is an excellent choice to enhance your garden. Its roses are bright, warm, sturdy, and generous. All it takes is a sunny exposure and fertile and moist soil to reach its full potential. Its lush vegetation, soft colour, and intoxicating fragrance make it perfect for creating a small hedge, a rose bed, or enhancing a landscape composition of light perennial plants. To create harmonious combinations, plant it in groups in large borders, paired with other moschata roses in tender and refined colours or landscape bush roses in shades of pink, red, white, or pale yellow. In a colourful shrub bed, you can pair it with weigelas and abelias, dwarf caryopteris, or lavenders. You can also accompany it with Japanese anemones, phlox paniculata, blue bellflowers, red penstemons, delphiniums, Buenos Aires verbena... And let's not forget, for contrast effects, the association with silver foliage plants such as Artemisias and seaside cinerarias, or positioned in front of the dark foliage of boxwood, hornbeams, Japanese privet, cotoneaster... With its dense vegetation, this rose adapts perfectly to cultivation in a large pot. Just water it regularly and add fertiliser to flourish and enhance patios, balconies, or patios fully.
