Unfortunately, it didn't take. I contacted Promesse de Fleurs who found a solution: a credit note valid for 18 months. I thank the entire team for their understanding and professionalism.

Description

The Berthe Morisot Rose® (Delrosroucrem) is a modern tea hybrid rose named in honor of this major figure of impressionism. The spirit of the painter, and her genius, seem to inhabit its large roses, a little rebellious, magenta red, with imaginary brushstrokes of small creamy and pink touches. Each flower is different, all competing in a passionate attempt to capture the light and grasp the essence of color. The plant is vigorous, its beautiful foliage is healthy and it blooms from May to October. The fragrance of the flowers, powerful and feminine, reveals beautiful harmonies between red fruits and violet on a woody background. A rose that will be appreciated in the garden for its robustness, and of course in floral compositions for its unexpected and poetic aspect.

'Berthe Morisot ®' 'Delrosroucrem' is a hybrid tea bush rose with large flowers launched in 2020 by Delbard, it is the latest addition to the series of roses 'The Painters' Roses'. A bushy and upright shrub, a bit stiff, it reaches an average height of 90cm (35in) and a spread of 60cm (24in) at maturity, with rapid growth. It produces strong, thorny branches that bear dense foliage divided into large, toothed leaflets, of a shiny dark green colour. From May-June, and until October if faded flowers are removed, the plant produces successive waves of 13cm (5in) flowers with 60 petals, whose somewhat irregular shape and tousled centre recall certain old roses more than tea hybrids. Their fragrance is pronounced, more noticeable in warm and calm weather. The flowers are grouped in small bouquets or solitary, borne at the end of long shoots of the year or emerging on 2-year-old stems. The foliage of this variety is very healthy, under good growing conditions.

As Delbard explains about the 'The Painters' Roses': "By creating these roses, nature guided by the hybridizer took her brush and wanted to pay tribute to the impressionist painters."

'Berthe Morisot' is superb in flower beds, in groups of 3 plants, in large monochrome borders or in combination with white, pink, red, or purple roses. It also blends well with light shrubs, perennials, and annuals such as Gaura, paniculate baby's breath, campanulas, paniculate phlox, or tall foxgloves. It can be highlighted in front of a boxwood or yew screen, or, conversely, surrounded by a miniature hedge or a carefully organized maze, as in Italian or French gardens. One can also plant at its base a climbing clematis with blue flowers like Clematis heracleifolia or a Sollya heterophylla in mild climates. Finally, its roses are stunning in bouquets, combined with lilies in summer or asters in autumn.

Planting and care

Plant your Berthe Morisot Rose bush in a sunny or lightly shaded location. Modern roses are tolerant, but do not appreciate excess limestone. They will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well worked, not too heavy, and rich. To install your rose bush, work the soil by crumbling it well and put an amendment at the bottom of the planting hole, such as dried blood or dehydrated horn. Water generously after planting to remove air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting. Avoid pruning too short during the first two years.

Pruning modern perpetual roses is essential for flowering. It is done in three steps:

1. Maintenance pruning: regularly shorten the flowered branches during the season. To encourage the re-blooming of perpetual roses, remove faded flowers at the same time as their stem with 2 or 3 leaves.

2. Preparatory pruning in autumn: light pruning that anticipates the true spring pruning. In regions with cold winters, it is not recommended in order to avoid weakening the bush.

3. Spring pruning: in February-March, when the buds have become shoots 2 to 3cm (1in) long: prune the young strong branches to a quarter of their length.

Pruning always aims to clear the centre of the bush and remove dead wood, diseased branches, and weak shoots. The most vigorous ones will be kept, generally 3 to 6 well-positioned branches to maintain a beautiful habit. Always prune at an angle ½ cm or 1cm above a bud facing outward.

Care

Pruning instructions Avoid cutting too short during the first two years. Pruning modern perpetual roses is essential for flowering. It is done in three steps: 1. Maintenance pruning: regularly shorten the branches that have bloomed during the season. To encourage the re-blooming of perpetual roses, remove faded flowers along with their stem, leaving 2 or 3 leaves. 2. Preparatory autumn pruning: light pruning that anticipates the proper spring pruning. In regions with cold winters, it is not recommended to avoid weakening the bush. 3. Spring pruning: in February-March, when the buds have become shoots measuring 2 to 3cm (1in) long, prune the young strong branches to a quarter of their length. Pruning always aims to clear the heart of the bush and remove dead wood, diseased branches, and weak shoots. The most vigorous branches, usually 3 to 6 well-positioned ones, should be retained to maintain a beautiful habit. Always prune at a diagonal angle, about ½ cm or 1cm above an outward-facing bud.
Pruning Pruning recommended once a year
