Thanks to the individuals (for order preparation and shipping), the rosebush I received appears healthy. Planted near a wall, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... or not?" Analysis: - The translation is accurate and captures the meaning of the original text. - The tone of the translation matches that of the original text. - There are no spelling or grammatical errors. - The use of "rosebush" is more appropriate than "rosier" in this context. - The expression "take root" is idiomatic and conveys the idea of the plant establishing itself.

More information

This modern rose, named during the Chantilly Plant Exhibition 2017, has a pronounced romantic character and something princely: awarded for its delicate fragrance, all rounded, it seduces, revealing up to 80 petals in a gradient from tender pink to cream, tightly packed around a softly and unexpectedly orange heart. This vigorous variety develops foliage particularly resistant to diseases and blooms in generous bouquets from May until the frosts.

Description

The 'Domaine de Chantilly' Rose (Delagak), a modern hybrid tea rose, was baptised with great pomp during the Chantilly Plant Day in May 2017. It has a pronounced romantic character and something aristocratic about it. Awarded for its delicate and round scent, it starts as a deep pink bud and opens with voluptuousness to reveal up to 80 petals in shades of soft pink to cream, tightly packed around a gently and improbably orange heart. In the garden, it is a vigorous bush that develops foliage particularly resistant to diseases and flowers in generous bouquets from May until the frosts.

'Domaine de Chantilly' 'Dalagak' received its first prize for its fragrance in Madrid in 2015, even before being baptised. It is a modern bush rose with large clustered flowers introduced in 2017 by Delbard, belonging to the series of roses 'Souvenirs d'Amours Parfumés'. It is a bushy shrub with a flexible and erect habit, reaching a height of about 1.10m (4ft) and a spread of 80cm (32in) at maturity, with rapid growth. It produces strong, thorny branches with dense foliage divided into large toothed leaflets, semi-glossy dark green, reddish-bronze when budding. Throughout the summer and until October, if faded flowers are removed, the plant continuously produces medium-sized flowers, 9-10cm (4in) in diameter, reminiscent of certain English or old roses. Fairly flat and well-organised, they open in tight quarters. Very double, they are composed of 60 to 80 petals. Their colour ranges from soft pink to cream, with a soft and luminous orange tone in the centre of the rosette. The flowers are gathered in bouquets of 5 to 7 at the end of long shoots from the current year or emerging from 2-year-old stems. The scent of the roses reveals fruity notes, particularly yellow fruits and citrus. The foliage of this variety is remarkably healthy.

As the rose grower Delbard explains, the 'Souvenirs d'Amours' roses are "Voluptuous, romantic and fragrant; these roses have the unique charm of old roses, childhood memories and moments of rediscovered happiness!"

'Domaine de Chantilly' is a solid, romantic and fragrant bush rose, ideal for planting in a small flowering hedge, in a bed or in a group of 3 plants. It mixes well with perennials and light annuals such as paniculate gypsophila, bellflowers, paniculate phlox or tall foxgloves. It will be beautifully showcased in front of a boxwood or yew screen, or, on the contrary, surrounded by a miniature hedge or a carefully arranged maze, as in Italian or French gardens. Above all, it is a pastel and precious rose, quite easy to combine in the garden, for example with white flowers (Philadelphus White Rock, Gardenia Crown Jewel, Rosa Fairy White) or pink, salmon or orange flowers. It can be placed near the house to also enjoy its superb fragrance, alone or delicately associated with the rose Charles Darwin, which constantly hesitates between orange, yellow and cream. Finally, its roses are stunning in bouquets, combined with lilies in summer or mauve, white or even blue asters in autumn.

Planting and care

Choose a sunny or lightly shaded spot with well-worked soil that is not too heavy and has enough nutrients. Avoid planting in poor and excessively dry soils. Prepare the soil by crumbling it and adding an amendment, such as blood, fish and bone, at the bottom of the planting hole. After planting, water abundantly to remove air pockets and continue to water regularly for a few weeks to help the roots establish.

Pruning modern repeat flowering roses is important for flowering and should be done in three stages:

1. Regular maintenance pruning: During the season, regularly shorten the flowering branches and remove faded flowers along with their stem, leaving 2 or 3 leaves to encourage repeat flowering.

2. Preparatory autumn pruning: Lightly prune in preparation for the 'main' spring pruning. Note: This is not recommended in regions with cold winters as this could weaken the bush.

3. Spring pruning: In February-March, when the buds have become shoots 2 to 3 cm (1in) long, prune the young, strong branches to one-quarter of their length.

When pruning, always aim to remove dead wood, diseased branches, and weak shoots while opening up the centre of the bush. Retain the most vigorous branches, generally 3 to 6 well-positioned, to maintain an attractive habit. Always prune at a slant ½ cm or 1 cm (0in) above an outward-facing bud.

Roses may develop unsightly spots at the end of summer, but this is a natural occurrence and doesn't harm the rose's growth.
