Received today a rose bush named "Line Renaud". Disappointed by the overall appearance, not bushy enough and ugly.

Description

The Rose 'Line Renaud', a multiple award-winning rose holder of the highly sought-after German label A.D.R*, is a modern rose with large romantic flowers close to perfection. Its large double flowers, in a delightful Indian pink, exude a powerful fragrance with hints of orange and cypress. They bloom from June until the first frost on a bush with healthy vegetation and beautiful dark green and glossy foliage, remarkably resistant to diseases. An exceptional rose within reach of all gardeners! Its old-fashioned charm roses are simply perfect in bouquets.

The Rose 'Line Renaud' or 'Meiclusif', registered by the rose grower Meilland, is classified as a Hybrid Tea rose and remains one of the best modern varieties with large, deep pink flowers. It has been awarded, among others, the Perfume Prize in Bagatelle and Orléans, the 1st Perfume Prize and the Gold Medal in Le Roeulx, and the Gold Medal in Buenos Aires. This rose has also been awarded the Grand Prix de La Rose SNHF (National Horticultural Society of France). The plant forms a beautiful bushy and upright shrub, slightly rigid, with vigorous and rapid growth. It will reach an average height of about 1.15m (4ft), with a spread of 70 to 80cm (28 to 32in). From May-June until late in the season, very beautiful roses composed of 35 slightly toothed petals, arranged in quarters, solitary, and carried by long sturdy stems, will bloom. They are perfectly uniform, in a warm pink. Their fragrance, very pronounced, is described as floral-citral. It is also a very hardy variety.

This modern rose 'Line Renaud', with its fragrance, the romantic appearance of its slightly blurred flowers, and its beautiful floribundity, is ideal for the garden in a large rose bed or as a solitary plant in a well-kept garden. It adapts to all soils not too dry and all climates, tolerating rain and heat and allowing them to be planted anywhere, even at medium altitudes. It pairs perfectly with pale pink roses ('Prince Jardinier'), white roses ('Jeanne Moreau', 'Jardins de Bagatelle'), and pretty perennials such as perennial geraniums 'Blue Cloud', 'Ann Folkard' or 'Orion', catmints or snapdragons... Its flowers can create very feminine bouquets that will delicately perfume the house.

*The A.D.R label is awarded annually by the German Federation of Rose Growers to exceptional roses: The roses in competition are evaluated under real conditions, without any sanitary treatment for three years and in eleven test stations throughout Germany. It is reviewed every year.

Planting and care

To plant your 'Line Renaud' or 'Meiclusif' rose bush start by working the soil to a depth of 25 cubic cm. Crumble the soil and add a bottom amendment such as blood, fish and bone. After that, remove the plant from its pot and position it by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill the hole and water generously to remove any air pockets. In dry weather, make sure to water the plant regularly for a few weeks to help it establish its roots. Additionally, remember to provide your rose bush with special rose fertiliser that stimulates plant flowering.

Roses often have stains or may look unsightly towards the end of summer. However, this is not a problem for their development. These stains are natural and do not harm the rose.
