Description

The Noémie de Rothschild® 'Lapnoem' Large Flowered Rose offers big, very plump and beautifully spiralled double flowers, made up of nearly 120 petals. Blooming abundantly and regularly from May until the first frost, they are dark red, enhanced by shiny green foliage. With good disease resistance, it can be used in flower beds, borders, or in groups of 3 to 5 plants.

The Noémie de Rothschild Rose is a modern large-flowered rose (floribunda), with a compact and bushy habit. It reaches about 80 cm to 90 cm in height and 60 cm in width at maturity, with rapid growth. This rose produces thorny branches that bear abundant foliage, consisting of large, serrated, shiny dark green leaflets. Throughout the summer, and until October if faded flowers are removed, the plant continuously produces medium-sized double flowers, measuring 9 cm in diameter, with the characteristic turbinated shape of Tea roses. The dark red flowers are produced in small clusters of 1 to 3 flowers, at the ends of long shoots from the current year or emerging from 2-year-old stems.

The Noémie de Rothschild Rose is perfect for all gardens as it is easy to grow and adapts to all soils that are not too dry, and all climates. However, like all repeat-flowering roses, its bloom will decrease in a very dry summer, only to resume in autumn. Its compact size allows it to be planted in small urban gardens or courtyards, as well as in larger gardens. Ideal in perennial and shrub flower beds or in colourful mixed borders. Pair its intense red with the delicate blue flowers of sages, nepetas, lavenders, or perennial geraniums. Consider adding daylilies to play with a variety of colours, especially the 'American Revolution' variety with velvety burgundy flowers. Plant silver-leaved wormwoods at its base. Add medium-sized ornamental grasses. Plant a few foxgloves for height. Create a border with several bush roses.

Planting and care

To plant your Noémie de Rothschild hybrid tea rose, prepare your soil by loosening it up to a depth of 30 cm and adding an organic base fertiliser such as dried blood or dehydrated horn. Remove your plant from its pot, place it in the hole and cover the top of the root ball with 3 cm of soil. Fill the hole, firm the soil, and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. In dry weather, it is important to water regularly for a few weeks to promote root development. Don't forget to apply a special rose fertiliser to encourage flowering.

Roses are often marked or unsightly at the end of summer, but it does not affect their growth. These marks are not harmful to the rose; it is a natural phenomenon.
