Perfect! The first one to be planted, as it's a giant that the heatwave "killed" me and I have high expectations for this beautiful rose!

Description

Rosa Rose Synactif by Shiseido is a modern hybrid tea rose of beautiful stature. It is resistant, generous, and remarkably fragrant. Its roses pay tribute to the luxurious Japanese cosmetics brand in the most beautiful way. They boast a powerful and complex scent, revealing notes of lemon, basil, anise, rose, and lemon verbena. The fully double cup-shaped flowers are lilac-pink, taking on lovely mauve reflections as the hours go by. They bloom abundantly, from May to October, on a very healthy large bush. The long-lasting cut flowers are wonderful in a vase. It can be trained as a small climber. Awarded numerous times internationally, this rose is undoubtedly a safe bet.

Rosa Rose Synactif by Shiseido is a modern bush rose created in 2008 by the rose breeder Delbard. It has won 10 medals, including the 1st prize at Bagatelle in 2006, the perfume prize, and a certificate of merit in Geneva. It is vigorous, with a bushy and flexible yet erect habit. It reaches about 1.75m (6ft) in height and 90cm (35in) in width at maturity under good conditions. It has a rapid growth rate. When trained as a climber, it can reach a height of 2m (7ft). Its branches are strong and thorny, carrying dense foliage with large dentate leaflets that are shiny dark green. It is less susceptible to diseases. Throughout summer, the plant produces waves of 10cm (4in) flowers, whose turbinated shape is characteristic of the hybrid tea rose category. The fully double roses are composed of petals whose colour ranges from pink to deep lilac and mauve. Their scent is very pronounced. The flowers are gathered in bouquets at the end of long shoots from the current year or by those that emerge from 2-year-old stems. This repeat-flowering rose will bloom until October if faded flowers are regularly removed.

Rosa Rose Synactif by Shiseido concentrates all the charm and fragrance of mauve roses while also possessing good health, a quality that is often lacking in this category of roses. It is a sturdy, nostalgic, and fragrant bush, ideal for planting in a large flowering hedge, in a bed, or in a group of 3 at the centre of a flower bed. It blends well with perennials and light annuals such as panicled baby's breath, bellflowers, panicled phlox, or tall foxgloves. Its vigorous growth means it can grow without support in a flowering hedge, along with a large bush rose (R. complicata, R. Alba), a vigorous clematis like 'Jackmanii Alba' or 'Prince Charles', or to be planted at the back of formal flower beds. It can be placed near the house to also enjoy its superb scent. Its long-lasting roses are stunning in bouquets, paired with lilies in summer or asters in autumn.

Planting and care

Plant in a sunny or partially shaded location. Modern roses are tolerant, but do not like excessive limestone. They will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well worked, not too heavy, and sufficiently rich. To plant your rose, work the soil by crumbling it and add fertiliser to the bottom of the planting hole (dried blood or dehydrated horn, for example). Water generously after planting to remove any air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. Avoid pruning too short in the first two years.

Roses are often stained or unsightly at the end of summer, but this will not hinder their development. These spots are a natural phenomenon and will not harm the rose.

Care

Pruning instructions Avoid pruning too short in the first two years. Pruning is essential for flowering. It is done in three steps: 1. Maintenance pruning: regularly shorten the branches that have flowered during the season. To encourage the reblooming of perpetual roses, remove the faded flowers along with their stem, leaving 2 or 3 leaves. 2. Preparatory pruning in autumn: light pruning that anticipates the proper spring pruning. It is not recommended in regions with cold winters in order to avoid weakening the bush. 3. Spring pruning: in February-March, when the buds have developed into shoots 2 to 3cm (1in) long, trim the young strong branches by a quarter of their length. Pruning always aims to clear the heart of the bush and remove dead wood, diseased branches, and weak shoots. The most vigorous branches, usually 3 to 6 well-positioned ones, will be kept to maintain an attractive habit. Always prune at a slant, ½ cm or 1cm (0.4in) above an outward-facing bud.
