Hello, I have a question about this rose bush. It's not orange. It came with buds that opened and the flowers were white-pink. Could I have an answer. Thank you.

Description

The 'Bentheimer Gold' Rose is a lovely new addition from Kordes that will delight fans of warm and soft hues. Flowering and sturdy, this low, wide, and bushy shrub is adorned with beautiful dark green foliage that serves as a backdrop for charming bouquets of roses of medium size, with well-doubled cups, whose superb colour, intermediate between apricot and orange, evokes that of the sandstone of the city of Bentheim, the Bentheimer Gold, renowned for its beauty beyond the Rhine. The flowering continues throughout the summer on this very disease-resistant little bush that received the A.D.R label in 2015. A very pretty rose to use as a ground cover or in a flowerbed, with small bushes or perennials. Its modest growth also lends itself very well to container gardening.

The Rosa x floribunda 'Bentheimer Gold' is a recent creation from the German rose breeder Kordes. It is characterised by a wide, bushy, and well-branched habit. This bush reaches about 65 cm (26in) in height and 70 cm (28in) in width. Its thorny stems bear young shoots tinged with purple that unfold into dark green leaves, finely toothed at the edges, slightly shiny, and resistant to diseases. Its flowering is long, it renews itself in successive waves from June to October. The orange buds, enclosed in purple sepals, open into beautifully double cups, nicely curved, measuring 6-8 cm (2-3in) in diameter, gathered in terminal clusters. The orange hue of the flowers is unusual, not aggressive, rich, warm, and luminous at the same time. They are not fragrant.

Floribunda roses are ideal for creating beautiful small hedges, planted mixed along the terrace or in flowerbeds with small bushes. Combine them with abelias, Mexican orange trees, or bluebeards, for example. They are good companions for phlox and tall baby's breath. This 'Bentheimer Gold' variety will be enhanced when planted in groups of 3, forming an extremely bright bush. For example, surround it with catmints and perennial or shrubby salvias with blue, mauve, or white flowers. Also, combine it with white ground cover roses ('Swany', 'Marie Pavie'), chamomiles, or light grasses such as Stipa (barbata, pennata, tenuifolia). This very hardy rose that requires little maintenance will thrive in full sun or partial shade. It will satisfy all gardeners, beginners or experienced.

Planting and care

Plant this floribunda rose from November to March, in ordinary, well-loosened and free-draining soil. Roses prefer clayey soils, rather heavy than light. In soil that is too sandy, too compact or too dry in summer, it is preferable to bury compost, decomposed manure or leaf-mould at the bottom of the planting hole. However, this rose dreads waterlogged soils in winter. Place it in a sunny position, at most in partial shade. Roses are greedy plants, a specific rose fertiliser application will be beneficial when the foliage emerges, then regularly during the entire flowering period.

To encourage re-blooming, regularly remove faded flowers. Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties. Therefore, the stems should be pruned to about a quarter of their length (4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem) at the end of winter. Always prune above an outward-facing bud, so that the bush thickens and the branches do not become tangled in the centre of the shrub.
