Thanks to the individuals (Laeticia for the order preparation and Camelia from the shipping department), the bare-root rose received appears to be healthy. Planted near the 'Remember' variety, I am now patiently waiting for it to establish... (or not, like the previous one from November 2021?).

Description

The 'Folle Courtisane' Rose Bush adorns itself with its finest attire at every moment. This bush offers, from summer until the first cold, bouquets of intensely fragrant roses, filled with petals of a true pink that take their time to reveal a golden heart. They bloom on an elegant foliage endowed with exceptional disease resistance. It is an excellent variety for the garden, definitely worth discovering!

The 'Folle Courtisane' Rose Bush 'Delparfroni' is a very recent creation from the Delbard house. This variety has already been awarded twice for its numerous qualities. It is part of the 'Les grands parfums' collection, as presented by its creator: "Each of these roses has an intense, very personal fragrance, composed of olfactory notes assembled in an original way. Fugacious or more tenacious, flowery or woody, these notes leave an unforgettable trail like a high-end perfume."

This 'Folle Courtisane' rose bush forms, in a few years, a bush with thorny stems, 80-90 cm (32-35in) tall and 60 cm (24in) wide, very ramified, covered with green and glossy foliage immune to diseases. This deciduous foliage falls in autumn. The flowering is renewed from May-June until October-November. The wide corollas, 7-8 cm (3in) in diameter, are double, gathered in bouquets of 5 to 7 flowers with imbricated petals. The tightly closed buds open into flat cups that late reveal a bouquet of yellow stamens. Their fragrance, very pronounced, has been analysed as follows:

- Base note: tarragon

- Heart note: rose

- Top note: anise, lemon

Floribunda roses allow for the creation of beautiful small hedges, planted in a mix along the terrace or in small shrub beds. Associate them with abelias, nandinas, or caryopteris for example. They are good companions for paniculate phlox and tall baby's breath. The moderate size and resistance of 'Folle Courtisane' make it an interesting variety for all gardens, even small ones and for cultivation in large pots. Its use is versatile, according to each gardener's desires: in a rose bed, in the company of white varieties ('Marie Pavie', 'Swanny'), or mauve ones ('Blue Boy', 'Rhapsody in Blue', 'Roman Waltz'), or mixed with easy-to-grow perennials such as perennial geraniums, small-flowered carnations, or asters. Its perfumed roses with a nostalgic charm are moving in bouquets.

Planting and care

Plant this floribunda rose from November to March, in ordinary, well-loosened and free-draining soil. Roses prefer clayey soils, rather heavy than light. In soil that is too sandy, too compact or too dry in summer, it is preferable to bury compost, decomposed manure or leaf-mould at the bottom of the planting hole. However, this rose dreads waterlogged soils in winter. Place it in a sunny position, at most in partial shade. Roses are greedy plants, a specific rose fertiliser application will be beneficial when the foliage emerges, then regularly during the entire flowering period.

To encourage re-blooming, regularly remove faded flowers. Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties. Therefore, the stems should be pruned to about a quarter of their length (4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem) at the end of winter. Always prune above an outward-facing bud, so that the bush thickens and the branches do not become tangled in the centre of the shrub.
