The Decorosier Standard Rose Mareva is an excellent plant in every way: it charms with its magnificent small tree-like habit, its small semi-double flowers of a slightly perfumed soft pink, and its ability to flower regularly until late in the season. Its foliage offers very good disease resistance and requires little maintenance. Give it a prominent place in the garden or even in a large pot on the patio, and it will provide exceptional decoration for many years.
Â
Standard roses are obtained by grafting a variety (here the Decorosier Mareva rose) onto a single, vertical stem belonging to a different rose (Rosa canina, R. laxa, or R. multiflora), with the graft being performed at the top. In very cold regions, it may be useful to protect the rootstock in winter.
Rose Decorosier Mareva is a variation of the Emera variety with fuchsia pink flowers. It belongs to the floribunda and polyantha rose family, which produce flowers clustered in clusters. Grafted on a stem, it has a characteristic habit, with a thin, vertical 'trunk' carrying a large, globular crown. Its thorny stems bear abundant foliage, divided into small, tough and toothed leaflets of a bright green colour. Its flowering is rather abundant and regular from June until October-November if it is regularly pruned and provided with enough water. The semi-double flowers are gathered in clusters of about ten units, and they are 4 to 5 cm (2in) wide. The tight buds open into open cups, revealing a small centre of yellow stamens. The fragrance of this rose is light and very pleasant. The plant will more or less retain its leaves in winter if it is not too harsh.
Decorosier roses are bushy roses with a spreading habit. They can be used in various ways: as lawn borders, in flower beds, on slopes, or in containers. They thrive in all types of soil, in sunny or semi-shady locations. They have a exceptionally long flowering period on healthy, glossy, semi-evergreen foliage. Naturally resistant to diseases, they do not require treatment.
Â
This Mareva Standard Rose is a delightful specimen, to be placed in the centre of a bed of delicate perennials, along a pathway, near the patio, in a well-kept small garden, or in a large pot on the balcony. Its candy pink colour pairs particularly well with blue, mauve, purple, or white flowers. For example, it can be planted in the centre of a bed of white groundcover roses (Opalia) or fuchsia pink (Emera), alongside catmints, perennial salvias, foxgloves, love-in-a-mist, or forget-me-nots. A groundcover composed of lungworts, silver baskets, or blue aubrietas will showcase it perfectly.

Botanical data
Plant Rosa Decorosier Mareva from November to March, in ordinary, well-prepared and well-drained soil. Roses prefer clay soils, rather than light ones. In soil that is too sandy, too compact or too dry in summer, it is preferable to add compost or decomposed manure at the bottom of the planting hole. This rose is dislikes waterlogged soils in winter. Plant it in a sunny location, at most in partial shade. Roses are greedy plants, so a specific fertiliser will be beneficial at the start of the growing season, and regularly throughout flowering. To promote reblooming, regularly remove faded flowers. Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and more floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties. Therefore, prune the stems to about a quarter of their length (from 4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem) at the end of winter. Always prune above an outward-facing bud so that the bush fills out and the branches do not become tangled in the centre of the branches.
In regions with very cold winters, it is advisable to protect the grafting stock of stem roses (the 'trunk') by wrapping it in a thick winter cover.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
