Description

The 'Golden Wings' bush rose has a rare charm among cultivated roses. The sulphur yellow petals of the flower open up to a beautiful heart bristling with golden stamens. This sunny rose remains covered in its flowers throughout the summer and emits a very subtle fragrance around it.

This bush rose requires careful pruning to maintain a beautiful compact habit. It adapts well to slightly shaded conditions. When planted with other bushes, it brings warm tones to your flower beds. When planted alone, it expresses itself to the fullest.

If 'Golden Wings' is so special, it's also because, although it's a recent creation, its roses have a single corolla. This arrangement of petals in a single collar around the cluster of stamens is a characteristic of wild roses. This gives this variety a unique natural elegance and gives its roses the appearance of golden butterflies, hence its name.

Planting and care

Plant your 'Golden Wings' rose bush in a well-ventilated area, avoiding confined spaces. Roses are tolerant but do not like excessive limestone. They will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well-worked and sufficiently rich. This rose bush is not particularly susceptible to diseases, so if you notice spotted or affected leaves, remove them promptly. To plant your rose bush, prepare the soil by breaking it up and adding an amendment, such as dried blood or dehydrated horn, at the bottom of the planting hole. Water generously after planting to eliminate air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. Pruning 'Golden Wings' is essential to maintain a beautiful compact habit, so don't hesitate to drastically shorten the branches. Reform the bush to be compact and well-ventilated in spring. Choose an outward-facing bud and make a slanted cut just above it. Take advantage of this pruning to remove dead wood and unsightly branches. As the flowering progresses, remove faded flowers to stimulate the development of other buds. If you diligently clean throughout the summer, you will enjoy flowering until September.
