I've just sown this shade lawn and I'm eagerly waiting for it to shoot! Do you know how long it takes for it to germinate? Thanks in advance, Cécile

More information

Creating a beautiful short grass meadow in shady areas of the garden, such as under trees or along a wall, can be achieved with a specially formulated mix. Sowing is easy, even in clay and damp soils, and in fairly heavy shade. This lawn can also tolerate the sun. To sow the seeds, prepare the soil well and do it in spring. One kilogram of the mix is enough to seed 35 square metres.

The tapetum, fine and dense, will spread easily under trees or along a north or east-facing wall, even in fairly dense shade. This versatile composition adapts to all types of soil, even clayey and moist soil, and will also tolerate sun thanks to the presence of fine fescues. The seeds are sown in March-April by broadcasting, in well-prepared and loosened soil. 1 kg covers up to 35 m².

Planting and care

Sowing:

Sow directly in March-April (sow in September-October in hot and dry climates) in well-prepared, weed-free, refined and raked soil. Scatter the seeds on the soil surface and lightly rake to cover the seeds. Alternatively, use a roller to ensure the seeds stick to the soil. Regularly water with a fine spray to keep the soil slightly moist until germination if there is no rain.

Dosage:

  • 1 box of 1 kg for 35 m², approximately 28 g/m²
