Le Brugmansia arborea apprécie les expositions ensoleillées à mi-ombragées. Il demande un sol riche, bien drainé et frais. Il est recommandé de le planter au printemps, après les dernières gelées, en enrichissant le sol avec du compost bien décomposé. En période de croissance, des arrosages réguliers sont essentiels, en veillant à ce que le substrat reste légèrement humide sans être détrempé. Un apport d'engrais pour plantes fleuries toutes les deux semaines favorisera une floraison abondante. Sensible au gel (rusticité autour de -2 °C), il est indispensable de le cultiver en pot dans les régions aux hivers rigoureux afin de pouvoir le rentrer à l'abri du froid, dans une véranda ou une serre froide, durant la mauvaise saison. Une taille légère en fin d'hiver permettra de conserver une forme harmonieuse et de stimuler la nouvelle croissance. Il faut manipuler le Brugmansia avec précaution en raison de sa toxicité, en portant des gants lors des opérations de taille ou de rempotage, et en le tenant hors de portée des enfants et des animaux domestiques.
Pour cultiver un Brugmansia arborea en pot, choisissez un bac large et profond, percé au fond, d’au moins 40 à 50 cm de diamètre et de hauteur pour un jeune plant. Si la plante est déjà bien développée, préférez un bac d’environ 60 à 80 cm de diamètre et de profondeur. Optez pour un contenant solide, idéalement en terre cuite ou en résine résistante au gel, avec des trous de drainage pour éviter l'excès d'eau. Un rempotage tous les 2 à 3 ans est conseillé pour renouveler le substrat et maintenir la vitalité de la plante.
