Description

Adopt the Hebe Pink Paradise, year-round decorative with its evergreen bluish-green foliage. Throughout the summer, this compact bush is covered with clusters of pink and melliferous flowers. Moderately hardy (-10°C) and easy to grow, plant the Hebe Pink Paradise in well-drained soil and full sun. In the garden, it will be most effective in a border, a low hedge, a flowerbed, or even in a container. It is the ideal bush for coastal gardens.

From the plantaginaceae family (formerly known as scrophulariaceae), Hebe Pink Paradise is one of the many cultivars of Hebe. It forms a dense bush that doesn't exceed 60 cm in all directions. This variety remains attractive throughout the year with its evergreen foliage. Its leaves are ovate, 1 to 2 cm long, and have a beautiful glaucous green colour. They provide a nice contrast with the purple stems. Very floriferous, Pink Paradise is covered in pink spikes. The buds are white with a hint of pink. The flowers attract bees and other pollinators. The inflorescences measure between 4 and 6 cm long and bloom above the foliage.

Hebe Pink Paradise thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. It particularly suits a maritime climate. Moderately cold-resistant, plant it in a pot in colder regions so you can bring it indoors in a greenhouse or conservatory during winter. It is perfect for creating a slightly taller border or a low hedge, with flowers present all year round. Create a flowerbed with pastel tones that will attract butterflies and other pollinators by combining it with a ‘Mareva’ decorosier rose and a ‘Pink Panther’ Buddleia davidii.

Planting and care

Easy to grow, the Hebe 'Pink Paradise' prefers sunny locations and well-drained soils that do not retain too much water. It tolerates sea spray quite well and adapts very well in coastal gardens. Moderately hardy, it can withstand temperatures down to -8 / -10°C. In colder regions, it is best to protect it during winter or plant it in a pot and bring it indoors in a frost-free greenhouse or conservatory. After flowering, remove faded inflorescences with pruning shears. This light pruning will help maintain a compact habit.
