I ordered three hydrangeas, very beautiful product, arrived in good condition except that one of the hydrangeas is dying. The leaves are dry and it's wilting. I am disappointed.

Description

Mega Mindy could be the little sister of Pinky Winky. This Hydrangea paniculata develops large, more rounded inflorescences, resembling candy floss. They start out white and then gradually change colour, going from pale pink to dark pink. The branches are strong and resist rain well.

It is a beautiful and drought-resistant shrubby hydrangea, which easily establishes itself even in non-acidic soil. This new variety flowers from July to the first frosts and its flowers, 25 cm (9.8 in) long, are initially white before becoming more and more coloured until they take on very dark pink hues, when planted in a sunny exposure. At maturity, it reaches 1.2 m (3 ft 11 in) to 1.7m (5 ft 7 in) in height.

Planting and care

This hydrangea requires a sunny exposure to obtain autumn colours, along with a humus-bearing, neutral to acidic soil. When planting, install it in deeply worked soil. A good base fertiliser (horn or dried blood) will aid the recovery of your young plant and nourish it without risk of burning. If your soil tends to be dry, mix our STOCKOSORB® water retainer with the soil when filling in the planting hole and provide a surface watering basin. At the end of summer, we advise you not to cut the dry umbels which will protect the terminal shoots of the branches in winter. If you wish to obtain large inflorescences, we advise you to cut it back to 25 cm (9.8 in) each year in March. If you do not prune it, the inflorescences will remain numerous but smaller.

Care

Pruning instructions Prune the faded inflorescences at the end of winter and, if necessary, cut back the branches to half their height in order to maintain a squat habit. As it flowers on the year's wood, this procedure will not prevent flowering if carried out at the end of winter.
