A selection of Magnolias with flowers ranging from pale to the darkest pink. The 'Rosea' Star Magnolia is covered in pale pink, lightly scented stars in March-April, at the same time as Magnolia sprengeri Pink Beauty unfolds its almost flat flowers, a sweet pink wonder in spring. Magnolia liliiflora 'Spectrum' reveals beautiful flowers between dark and light pink even when young. Among the most accommodating is the essential Magnolia soulangeana with pink and white tulip-like flowers, very easy to grow, blooming in April. These are usually deciduous shrubs or small trees that flower spectacularly in spring. In these pink Magnolias, the shape of the flowers can also vary: cup-shaped, goblet-shaped, star-shaped, tulip-shaped or lily-shaped, fusiform, trailing, etc. There are also excellent garden shrubs with pink flowers among the star magnolia hybrids, such as Magnolia loeberi Leonard Messel. Much less known are gems like Magnolia denudata Festirose and its large cup-shaped flowers in soft pink, or Magnolia Iolanthe which produces very large flowers (25 to 35 cm (10 to 14in) in diameter) in cups of lilac pink with a lighter centre from a young age. There are pink-flowered magnolias of all sizes, suitable for every garden, as well as for container cultivation.
