Our selection of white flowering magnolias. In this category, one immediately thinks of Magnolia grandiflora, an evergreen tree with large cream-white tulip-shaped flowers in summer. This tree comes in many dwarf varieties (Magnolia Little Gem), with varying habits and sizes, from park trees like 'Purpan' to shrubs for pots. The star magnolia or Magnolia stellata is also very early, covered in large white stars, sometimes double in certain forms, from early spring - just like its close relative the Kobus magnolia or Magnolia kobus, also deciduous and very spring-like. Many lesser-known botanical species also bear white flowers: Magnolia sieboldii, M.delavayi, and Magnolia (X) thompsoniana for example. Their magnificent flowering is often pleasantly fragrant. For small gardens, also check out the Magnolia's cousin - called Michelia - and its hybrids such as Fairy White which has large, immaculate and fragrant spring flowers. In summary, there are evergreen and deciduous white flowering magnolias, with spring or summer flowering, taller or smaller, suitable for every garden!
