Pieris japonica Little Heath - Japanese Andromeda

Pieris japonica 'Little Heath' is sought after for its compact, rounded habit and its beautiful variegated foliage tinted with pink in spring.

Pieris are evergreen ericaceous shrubs whose new shoots take on pink or coppery hues, accompanied by lovely pendulous clusters of white or pink bell-like flowers in spring. Very easy to grow, they thrive in light and moist soil, with an acid pH, and a partly shady or moderately sunny position, avoiding strong sun. Once established, they are hardy.

The 'Little Heath' Pieris japonica variety is a very compact, rounded, dwarf form, reaching 60 cm (23.6 in) in height and spread at maturity. Its small glossy leaves have a creamy-white border and are heavily tinted with coppery pink in spring. The sparse white flowers bloom from February to April. Slow-growing, 'Little Heath' does not require pruning and is perfect for small gardens, pots and containers,  rockeries or as border plants.
