Pittosporum tenuifolium Variegatum - Kohuhu
I purchased a Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Variegatum' from Promesse de Fleurs last year, and I am absolutely delighted with my purchase! Despite a harsh winter season, with snow cover reaching 30cm, this plant has proven to be robust as it did not wilt or lose any leaves. This resilience is a testament to the exceptional quality of the selection offered by Promesse de Fleurs. The delivery also met my expectations. The care taken by the delivery person, who was clearly aware of the preciousness of the package they were carrying, was remarkable. This attention to detail not only ensures the plant's safety during transport but also demonstrates the professionalism of the service. One of the most surprising and rewarding aspects was undoubtedly the size of the plant upon arrival. It was much larger than I expected, immediately bringing a presence and undeniable charm to my garden. This aspect speaks to Promesse de Fleurs' generosity and commitment to providing high-quality plants to their customers. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my experience with Promesse de Fleurs, from the quality of the plant received to the excellence of the delivery service. I highly recommend this nursery to anyone looking to enhance their garden with robust, healthy, and beautiful plants. Congratulations and thank you to the entire team!

Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Variegatum', formerly known as argyrophyllum, is an evergreen bush with very dense and decorative foliage. Its green-tender leaves, marginated with cream-white, are slightly undulate and are inserted on thin black branches. Its habit depends only on the pruning it receives, but it is naturally compact and rounded.
The dark-red, almost black, flowers are particularly subtle. They only measure 1 cm (0.4 in), but they diffuse a slight honey scent at nightfall.
Pittosporums are native to the southern hemisphere, most of them come from New Caledonia, and they are not very hardy bushes. Some references give it hardiness up to -12° C (10.4° F), but the most common opinion is that it can tolerate temperatures down to -7° C (19.4° F).
It is used even by the seaside, especially for hedges, as it tolerates salty seaspray very well. In colder regions, plant it sheltered from the wind and well to the south. If you opt for pot cultivation, position it on a sunny terrace to promote flowering, and protect it from frost by bringing it indoors in a bright and not too hot room during winter. An unheated conservatory would be most suitable. However, be aware of diseases caused by confined spaces; it is prone to diseases such as powdery mildew.

Botanical data
Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Variegatum' is most beautiful in full sun but it will tolerate partial shade. Enrich your planting substrate with organic matter and sand so that it is both rich and well-drained. At the time of planting and throughout the summer, water your bush abundantly in the evening or morning. Then, space out the watering with the arrival of autumn and finally stop all water supply during the winter. Pruning should be done at the end of winter, but it is only necessary to remove dead or diseased wood or to shape a hedge.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
