Prunus glandulosa Rosea Plena - Dwarf flowering Almond

A true ambassador of the arrival of spring, the Prunus glandulosa 'Rosea Plena' is a charming small floriferous bush that is adorned with a profusion of pretty pompoms, pale pink, on its naked branches. It will bring beautiful colours to the garden after winter.

Originally from Asia, this flowering cherry tree is a deciduous bush with an upright, bushy and compact habit, reaching about 1.50m (4 ft 11 in) in all directions, and with a remarkable spring flowering in pink.

In April, the small pale pink flowers, about 4cm in diameter, appear before the foliage, arranged along the branches of the previous year, either solitary or in pairs. Very double, they are almost round in shape, like crumpled little pompoms. The light green leaves, with an ovate shape, narrow and slightly dentate, measure about 10cm.

Quite hardy, it can tolerate temperatures down to -15°C (5 °F). This flowering cherry tree can be planted solitary in a small garden due to its elegant habit and compact size. It will also naturally fit in a massif of small bushes with spring flowering or in a free hedge. It will beautifully accompany a Japanese quince, a viburnum, a flowering currant, an exochorda, as well as spring flowering bulbs. It can also be planted in a pot on a terrace or balcony.

Its long flowering branches will make wonderful first spring bouquets for the house.
