Prunus persica Taoflora White - Peach Tree
Prunus persica Taoflora White - Peach Tree
Prunus persica Taoflora White - Pêcher à fleurs blanches
We have just received it. Well packaged, there is just a small branch that broke during transportation. We planted it the next day, and it seems to be enjoying itself. We will see after the winter if it has adapted well.

The Prunus persica 'Taoflora White' is a recent and still rare Vietnamese cultivar. This graceful and resistant bush offers an early spring flowering, generous, which is not afraid of frost. The branches are covered with a profusion of white and double flowers before the bud burst period of the leaves. This peach tree bears small edible white peaches in late summer. Undemanding, it finds its place in all gardens and adapts to all climates.
The White Flowering Peach 'Taoflora' belongs to the Rosaceae family, it is a variety obtained in Vietnam in 2007 whose ancestor, Prunus persica (Peach), is a species native to Shanxi, a province in northern China and Mongolia. This peach tree grows rapidly. Its adult size will reach 3 m (10ft) in height and 2.5 m (8ft) in width. It is a deciduous bush with an arborescent and open habit. In March-April, numerous double and melliferous flowers appear along the branches, with a diameter of 5-6 cm (2in). They are followed in September-October by small wild and edible peaches (5 to 6 cm (2in)) with a fuzzy skin. The leaves are narrow, elliptical, pointed, 12 to 15 cm (5 to 6in) long.
The Flowering Peach must be planted in well-drained soil and in a sunny position. Very hardy, it tolerates pruning into a ball or cube shape; one can easily shape its silhouette according to one's inspiration. Prunus persica 'Taoflora Red' can be planted alone, or in association with other ornamental trees or shrubs, including other Prunus species such as Prunus cerasifera, Prunus triloba, Prunus x amygdalopersica (larger). There is no shortage of choices among these flowering prunus trees that will create an enchanted setting along a sunken alley. It should be noted that its once established resistance and the hardiness of this shrub allow its cultivation in many situations.
In Asia, the flowering branches are offered as a sign of happiness in spring. One can be inspired by this charming tradition by pruning a few well-budded branches to enjoy its graceful flowering at home in a bouquet.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
