Reception of sarcococca humilis was very good, very well packaged and seems to be enjoying its vine-plant. The growth is slow, so let's be patient. However, the symphoricarpos from a previous order did not take root. It was in good condition upon arrival and I planted it immediately, following the correct practices. Oh well, that's how it goes, a mystery of nature. Thank you.

Description

Sarcococca hookeriana var. humilis is a dwarf bush with a dense habit. It bears dark green leaves and white flowers tinged with pink that bloom from November to February. It remains beautiful all year round, even in winter when other plants are dormant.

Originating from China, Sarcococca hookeriana var. humilis has a dense habit, suckering to a height of 60 cm (23.6 in) and spreading to 1 m (3.3 feet). Its winter flowering, from December to February, offers bouquets of white flowers tinged with pink, which are highly fragrant. Its flowering is followed by fruiting, with black, globose fruits measuring 5 mm (0.2 in) in diameter. Its upright branches are adorned with dark green, evergreen oblong leaves.

Whether in a mass planting, in a container, as a border along a path, as a low hedge, or to conceal a wall, it will brighten up your garden. To fully enjoy its fragrance, place it in a high traffic area, near a window for example.

It remains evergreen down to -15° C (5° F) and thrives in shaded or semi-shaded locations. Plant it in light and well-drained soil, from October to November and from March to June, and sheltered from strong, drying winds. Prune it after flowering to remove faded leaves (but be careful, as pruning will prevent fruiting).

It tolerates pollution well, making it an excellent urban tree.
