Description
The Tamarix ramosissima 'Hulsdonk White', also known as summer tamarisk, is a large deciduous bush. This hardy bush reveals a misty white flowering in early spring, and then fine foliage will replace the flowering. It withstands sea spray well and its flowers are an ideal companion for floral compositions, just like baby's breath.
The Tamarix ramosissima 'Hulsdonk White' is a large bush with a round habit, reaching a height and spread of 3 to 5 m (10 to 16ft). It is renowned for its abundant, misty spring flowering, with white flower spikes appearing from May to June, arching its branches. Its grey-green foliage appears after the flowering. With its slender and narrow shape, it continues the misty effect of the spring flower spikes throughout the rest of the season. Its reddish-brown bark highlights its flowering and foliage.
Easy to grow, the summer tamarisk thrives in well-drained soil without excessive limestone. Its ability to withstand salty environments makes it a solution for coastal gardens. Originally from China, it has a good hardiness (-15°C (5°F).
Plant it in isolation, in rows, or in mass plantings with Griselinia, Spartium (Spanish broom), Cistus, Atriplex, etc. Prefers a sunny exposure to obtain a well-developed bush.
