A 90% jute felt mulch collar, already split, easy to position at the base of young plants cultivated in pots or in the field, to prevent the growth of weeds that can hinder their establishment. 100% biodegradable within 6 months, it is a device that fits perfectly into an organic and environmentally friendly gardening approach. .

The 90% jute felt mulch collar, already split, is easy to position at the base of young plants grown in pots or in open ground. This dense little mat prevents the growth of weeds that can compete with the roots of recently planted vegetation and hinder their establishment. 100% biodegradable, it is a device that fits perfectly into an ecological and environmentally friendly gardening approach. .

This round-shaped mulch is particularly suitable for filling and protecting the base of young shrubs and ornamental plants grown in open ground in an isolated manner or in containers on the terrace. It is put in place at the time of planting, or preferably in spring, on carefully prepared, weeded, loosened and enriched soil. It will thus prevent the germination of unwanted weeds, and enable plants to root more effectively and quickly. The collar, with a diameter of 11cm (4in), is a kind of felt made from needle-punched and thermobonded fibres, with 90% jute vegetable fibres and 10% synthetic fibres. Its weight is 450g/m², its thickness is about 4mm: it is a lightweight material that does not compact the soil and allows it to breathe, while blocking light and maintaining a certain level of moisture at the base of the plant. This mulch decomposes within 6 months depending on the climatic conditions, while enriching the soil with organic matter. The mulch effectively limits the appearance of weeds, by depriving the naturally present seeds in the soil of light. .

Once the recovery of shrubs and perennial plants is assured, the jute mulch should be replaced with a wider and thicker natural mulch such as hemp flakes, miscanthus, buckwheat husks, flax mulch, wood chips or BRF that will take over.

Detailed features

Directions for use This biodegradable mulch is particularly suitable for protecting the base of young bushes or plants grown in open ground or in pots from weeds. It is applied during planting or in spring, on carefully prepared, weeded, loosened and enriched soil. It is a material that does not compact the soil and allows air and water to pass through. Easily place the collar around the base of the plants thanks to the slot provided for this purpose. Once the bushes and perennial plants have successfully established, the vegetal mulch in collar form should be replaced with a wider and thicker natural mulch such as hemp flakes, miscanthus, buckwheat husks, flax mulch, wood chips or wood chips for relaying. The decomposed Chanvrelin mulch can be composted or buried in the soil by raking.
