This planting felt creates a physical barrier to separate the garden soil from the essential heathland soil needed for the success of bushes such as camellias, azaleas, or other rhododendrons. It is available in different forms perfect for lining the planting hole of a young plant.

The TERRAPLANT impervious planting felt has been designed to effectively isolate the garden soil from a substrate with very different characteristics, such as heathland soil. It is easily installed, lining the bottom and sides of the planting hole, creating a favorable environment for acidophilous plants and bushes, including camellias, azaleas, or other rhododendrons...It is perfectly suited for creating an individual planting pit, for one or more specimens.

This geotextile felt, in grey color, is made of non-woven polyester (thermally bonded polyester fibres) with a density of 100g/m². It is permeable to water, but impervious and very resistant: it can remain in the soil for many years without damage. Its texture is dense enough to prevent punctures and it prevents the garden soil (which can be limestone) from mixing with the heathland soil or the very acidic peat it contains. Isolated from the rest of the soil, the plant's root ball benefits from a favorable environment for its development as well as the ambient humidity of the flowerbed. The felt also isolates it from the roots of neighboring plants, which can sometimes be invasive. However, keep in mind that if you continuously water your heathland shrubs with limestone water, the acidity will gradually be lost. Finally, avoid using pure heathland soil in the garden: it dries out quickly in summer and provides very few nutrients to plants.

Detailed features

Directions for use This felt liner is installed in the planting pit of your bush, which must be wide and deep enough. It should line the entire bottom and wall, and slightly overflow onto the surface of the garden soil. Fill the pit with heath soil and potting soil. Plant your bush and then water it. You can cover the protruding edge of the felt liner with flat stones, gravel mulch, slate, or pumice... However, keep in mind that if you continuously water your bush with lime-rich heath soil, it will lose its acidity in the medium and long term. Use rainwater or low-mineralized spring water if possible. You can also use this liner to limit the expansion of moderately running bamboo rootstocks or to contain the wandering roots of certain plants.
