Our range of Waratahs or Telopeas brings together remarkable bushes for their spectacular cone-shaped flowering. The Telopea speciosissima or New South Wales Waratah produces large pink to red conical inflorescences, while those of its cultivar 'White' are white. The Telopea 'Emperor's Torch' flaunts superb bright red globular inflorescences. More compact, the Telopea truncata produces cup-shaped red flowers that attract pollinating birds.

The Telopeas, from the Proteaceae family, are bushes native to Australia. Their small tubular and curved flowers, grouped in dense heads, are surrounded by colourful bracts. The leaves are evergreen, leathery, dark green, arranged spirally around the stems. The plant grows from a lignotuber, a woody base capable of regrowth after fire or cold. In the ground, these bushes often reach 2 to 3 m in height.

Telopeas thrive in acidic, phosphorus-poor, well-drained soil, and prefer a sunny exposure. Sensitive to severe frosts and excessive humidity, they thrive by the sea or in large pots for winter protection.
