The Organic Courgette - Cucurbita pepo - is, like the Squash, a vegetable-fruit from the Cucurbitaceae family. It is harvested while still young, when its skin is tender. In the vegetable garden, you will sow the seeds or plant the organic seedlings (obtained without pesticides or chemical fertilizers) in April-May and around St. John's Day for a summer and autumn harvest. Beware of slugs, they are fond of young plants! 'Ronde de Nice', 'Black Beauty' or 'Green Market Gardeners', cultivate diversity: although very different, these courgettes are all easy to grow.
