Brilliant! The crown is a much stronger yellow than the one described." Analyse de la traduction : La traduction est grammaticalement correcte et respecte le ton du texte original. Cependant, il y a une faute d'orthographe dans le mot "brilliant" qui devrait être écrit avec deux "l" au lieu d'un seul.

Description

Narcissus 'Giant Split' is an astonishing variety. Its large flowers are formed by a white perianth and a pale-yellow crown, which is not fused but completely open. The flower appears almost double, as the very wide cup almost reaches the size of the petals. Its spring flowering is perfect for flower beds and containers.

Narcissus bulbs are the most resilient when planted in autumn. They can tolerate full sun as well as partial shade. They prefer well-drained soil but can also thrive in heavy soil.

For bouquets: we advise against mixing narcissus with other flowers, especially tulips, as the stems of narcissus contain a substance that causes other flowers to wilt quickly. This detrimental effect on other flower species can be attenuated by dipping the ends of narcissus stems in hot water for 1 to 2 minutes.

Narcissus flowers come back every year. Unlike perennial plants, there is no need to fertilise before flowering. Only cut the leaves when they have turned yellow and apply fertiliser. The bulb uses the foliage to replenish itself and prepare for the following year's flowers.

Planting and care

Very easy to grow, Narcissus 'Giant Split' thrives in the shade of woodland and in a sunny flower bed. Plant the bulbs 10cm (4in) deep and spaced 10cm (4in) apart. Group them in clusters of at least 5 bulbs, in patches of uniform colour or mixed.

You can plant them in lawns. In this case, lift the turf, dig and loosen the soil to a depth of at least 20cm (8in) (the length of a spade). Plant your bulbs, cover with soil and replace the turf. Choose a spot where you won't mow, as the daffodil leaves must wither before cutting them. The bulb uses the leaves to rebuild itself and prepare the flowers for the following year. However, remember to cut the flowers as soon as they fade to avoid seed formation. This would unnecessarily exhaust the bulb.
