Description

The Fireworks Duo - Alliums schubertii offers an explosion of colours and shapes for your garden, delighting enthusiasts of original plants. Composed of two varieties of ornamental garlic, this duo combines robustness and spectacular flowering. Allium schubertii, also known as "firework garlic" or "Schubert garlic," is appreciated for its astonishing flowers in the form of exploded spheres, which seem to project multiple little stars in all directions. Their flowering starts in May and extends until June, offering a spectacular ephemeral touch to your flowerbeds.

The duo consists of:

5 bulbs of Allium schubertii: these bulbs produce lilac-pink flowers in airy umbels, 30 cm wide, reminiscent of fireworks. The floral stems can reach up to 50 cm in height, creating a unique focal point in flowerbeds.

3 bulbs of Allium schubertii 'Arctic Snow': this variant offers pure white flowers, slightly smaller than those of the classic variety. The stems, reaching 40 cm in height, add a frosty elegance to your floral compositions.

Individually labelled.

For successful flowering, plant your Alliums schubertii in autumn, in well-drained soil, at a depth equivalent to three times the height of the bulb. These plants thrive in sunny flowerbeds but also tolerate partial shade. Space the bulbs 20 cm apart from each other (3 to 5 per m²) to provide enough space for their wide inflorescences. In pots, combine them with other perennials to create a dynamic summer scene. Place the Alliums schubertii 'Arctic Snow' in front of the classic Alliums schubertii for a depth and contrast effect.

These Alliums pair beautifully with perennials in soft tones like Nepeta 'Walker's Low', with its gray-green foliage and lavender-blue flowers that enhance the brightness of the white and pink inflorescences. The Echinacea purpurea, with its large purple flowers, will add an additional touch of warmth in the background. For a harmonious composition, place Geranium 'Rozanne' in front, with its blue-violet flowers, whose long flowering period perfectly accompanies that of the Alliums. Plant three plants of each variety per square metre to create a balanced and elegant ensemble. Plant the ornamental garlics among these perennials.

Planting and care

Alliums are easy-to-grow plants. Plant them preferably before the end of October so they have time to establish themselves. They are sensitive to excessive moisture, both in winter and summer. Give them a sunny spot in well-drained soil, even rocky soil. Bury them at a depth of 10 or 15 cm, spaced 20 cm apart. Not demanding, they prefer fairly poor soils.
