It has given rise to several varieties such as 'Robinsoniana', with pale lavender-blue flowers. The variety 'Lucia' offers white flowers that turn pale pink, while 'Blue Eyes' features double white flowers with a dark blue centre. The Wood Anemone is a native perennial that grows 10 to 25 cm tall, with deeply cut leaves. Its flowers measure 3 to 4 cm in diameter and appear in March-April. It forms beautiful flowering carpets in woodlands. Its roots are fine and branched rhizomes, which spread horizontally to form extensive colonies. Wood anemones prefer humus-bearing, moist soils and a semi-shaded to shaded exposure. These hardy plants require little maintenance and easily naturalise.
