Description

The "Double Hyacinth Duo Collection" showcases the 'Crystal Palace' and 'Hollyhock' varieties, two horticultural marvels with flowers as sumptuous as they are fragrant. These bulbs produce generous floral spikes from early spring. Plant them in the autumn along borders, along a pathway, or in a planter. Grow them in full sun or partial shade in well-drained, humus-rich soil, even if it becomes dry in summer.

The duo consists of:

x 5 bulbs of Double Hyacinth 'Crystal Palace': its deep blue, almost violet flowers are highly fragrant. This variety blooms in March-April, depending on the climate.

x 5 bulbs of Double Hyacinth 'Hollyhock': this hyacinth stands out with its bright magenta pink flowers and sweet fragrance. It blooms at the same time as the previous one.

Bulbs labelled and packaged separately.

Plant these hyacinths in October-November, at a depth of 10 cm and 15 cm apart. In borders, group them together for a spectacular mass effect. Plant them in a container as well, which you can place on a windowsill, for example. Plan for approximately 25 to 30 bulbs per square metre for dense and colourful flowering.

Pair this double hyacinth duo with botanical tulips in a rock garden. In partial shade, at the edge of a woodland, or at the base of deciduous bushes, mix them with Greek anemones 'Blue Splendour' and plant single daffodils in the background.

Planting and care

Plant your hyacinth bulbs in October or November, 8 to 10 cm deep and 15 to 20 cm apart. In very harsh climates, cover them with leaf litter to protect them from extreme cold. The flowering occurs between late February and April, depending on the climate. Wait for the leaves to turn yellow and wilt before digging up the bulbs, which should be stored in a dry place until they can be replanted in the following autumn. The bulbs can remain in the ground in regions where the summer is dry to very dry. The second-year flowering will generally be less beautiful than the first, but still very suitable for border planting. Pot cultivation is also possible.
