Description

Here is a lovely duo of bulbs to naturalise in the sun, in pink and blue. The star-shaped flowers of the small botanical tulip, with a tender pink colour and a golden yellow centre, and the fragrant, purplish blue clusters of the Muscari bloom simultaneously in early spring. A particularly successful and delightful combination between April and May. Planted at the forefront of flower beds, in a rock garden, in the lawn, but also in pots, these small bulbs thrive in most climates and faithfully return every year.

This duo consists of:

10 x Botanical Tulip 'Lilac Wonder': awarded in England by the R.H.S for its ease of cultivation and beauty, this variety reaches about fifteen centimetres in height. Its flower is barely lilac pink adorned with a superb yellow centre and only opens in the sun. It does not disappear after a few years of cultivation.

30 x Muscari armeniacum (size 9+): hardy and particularly prolific, this bulb forms one or more small clusters of small, fragrant flowers, shaped like an urn, with a medium purplish blue colour, often edged with white. It spreads spontaneously without requiring any maintenance.

Individually labelled.

The bulbs are planted in autumn, from September to early December, spacing them 5 to 10 cm apart. Mix the tulip and muscari bulbs. They should be covered with twice their height of soil. You can place them in the ground or in a container. The planting should be done in loose, well-worked and lightened soil. Never add poorly decomposed manure or compost to the planting soil, as this could cause the bulbs to rot. Also, avoid the bulbs touching each other.

These bulbs will decorate the borders of flower beds or pathways from the first beautiful days. Easy, sturdy, and low-maintenance, they reappear vigorously every year and allow for staggered flowering with Crocuses, Daffodils, and other botanical tulips in lively and charming compositions. Plant this duo at the base of deciduous bushes (in the sun) and in pots near an entrance.

Planting and care

Plant your bulbs as soon as possible in well-prepared, lightened if necessary, and well-drained soil. Loosen the soil deeply. Plant at a depth of 10 cm (Bulbs should be covered with twice their height of soil). Space the bulbs a few cm apart, making sure they do not touch. Choose a sunny location for better flowering. After flowering, cut the flower stalks and allow the leaves to dry completely before cutting them.
