Dahlia Bluesette

The Dwarf Dahlia 'Bluesette' is a stunning potted plant. Its double flowering in shades of pink enchants the summer season with its large heads. With a central fuchsia, they gradually fade at the edges to create a beautiful light pink halo. Whether planted along sunny borders or in containers, it brings charm and cheerfulness to terraces and pathways. It also provides abundant cut flowers for bouquets.

Belonging to the asteraceae family, the Dahlia is a perennial tuberous plant that is sensitive to frost and needs to be stored during winter in most regions. It thrives in sunny locations and prefers rich soils for a long and colourful flowering. The compact size of 'Bluesette' (40 cm (16in) in height and 30 cm (12in) in spread) encourages placement at the front of borders. By bordering pathways, it generously decorates lower areas. If you wish to keep it near entrances and windows, growing it in a container is suitable as long as it receives sunlight and nutrients. Regular fertilization is then essential for abundant flowering.

'Bluesette' has a well-proportioned bushy habit. Hollow stems slightly separate from its beautiful, rather dark green leaves, which are compound and subtly dentate with three to five leaflets. At the top of these leaves, beautiful double heads proudly face the sun. They consist of several rows of wide and slightly concave ligulate flowers, arranged in an orderly manner. Tightly packed in the centre and folded lengthwise, they form a bright and intense pink heart. Towards the outer edge, the ligules enlarge and unfurl, gradually lightening at their tips. The whole is then surrounded by a very bright light pink halo.

'Bluesette' showcases the liveliest shades of pink in the Dahlia range. It brings both softness and intensity to floral arrangements. Plant it at the base of Cosmos, Baby's Breath, and Pompom Dahlias in a range of pink hues. It also pairs well with summer containers overflowing with Petunias and Lobelias.
