Disappointed as it didn't take, especially since it was meant to fill a gap in a hedge of this variety. Can you please arrange for its return according to the warranty criteria? Thank you.

Description

Dahlia 'Red Fox' is a variety of Pompom Dahlia. The flowers with dense and clustered petals form a red ball, blooming from July to October.

This perennial has tuberous roots, swollen. Gathered in bundles, these tubers produce upright, hollow and branched stems, bearing compound leaves with rounded leaflets. Strong, fleshy stalks, 100cm (39in) tall, are topped with ligulate flowers, measuring 8cm (3in) in diameter.

Dahlia 'Red Fox' thrives in rich, clayey but healthy soil, deeply worked in hot and sunny conditions, sheltered from prevailing winds. It languishes in poor, sandy soils.

Dahlia 'Red Fox' is used in mixed flowerbeds with other varieties or for making bouquets.

Tips: When planting, take into account the dimensions for the composition of your flowerbeds.

Planting and care

Dahlia 'Red Fox' should be planted from mid-April to early May, at a depth of 10 to 15cm (4 to 6in) and with a spacing of 60cm (24in). Always provide stakes and tie the young shoots loosely. Apply slow-release compost or organic fertiliser during planting, and liquid fertiliser once a month during growth. Water without wetting the foliage. There is no need to remove buds on this variety. Treat against aphids and slugs. Dig up the tubers before frost, cutting the stems to 15cm (6in) from the stump. Store them in a cool, well-ventilated, dark place, avoiding excessive humidity. Transplant in early May, once the risk of frost has passed.
