After watching a documentary on Netflix, this year I'm trying my hand at growing some edible plants, with tuberous nasturtiums and potatoes. It should look lovely!" Analysis and revision: "After watching a documentary on Netflix, this year I am attempting to grow some edible plants, including tuberous nasturtiums and potatoes. It should be quite beautiful!" Revision Notes: - Changed "le tente" to "attempting" to convey the intention of trying something new. - Replaced "capucines" with "nasturtiums," the appropriate English term for the plant. - Replaced "poires de terres" with "potatoes," the correct translation. - Added "including" to clarify that both plants are being mentioned. - Added "quite" to emphasize the beauty of the result.

Description

Double Flora Pleno Lily, also known as Lilium lancifolium or tigrinum, is one of the most remarkable lilies. In August, double flowers in a turban shape bloom for a long period. The tiger-striped flowers are orange spotted with chocolate and fully double with a maximum of 36 tepals per flower and long stamens.

A large number of flowers cluster on a very vigorous single stem. The stems of the Flora Pleno Lily are hairy and the deciduous leaves are narrow and shiny green. At their axil, small bulbs appear which can be planted to produce new plants. Lilium lancifolium can reach a height of 1 to 1.5m (3 to 5ft) at maturity.

This Flora Pleno variety is easy to grow, hardy and very robust. It also spreads easily. This double lily is suitable for flower beds as well as underplanting roses or bushes or you can grow it in a pot. Its flowers can be cut for beautiful bouquets. Place your Flora Pleno lilies far away from other non-tiger lilies.

Planting and care

Lilies like to be in full sun with their base in the shade. Plant the bulbs 10 cm (4in) deep in fertile, well-drained soil, enriched with compost. Keep the soil moist but not wet. This lily prefers acidic soil and enjoys winter cold that allows it to root. Be careful of spring frosts that can damage young shoots. Flore Pleno lily is very resistant to diseases. Our Advice: Lilies are perfect in pots. Plant 1 to 5 bulbs in a deep pot. Water a little and place your pots frost-free. Bring them out to your terraces in spring to enjoy them to the full!
