Collection items (6 plants)

Description

Create a yellow and blue summer border in full sun with this selection of 5 yellow and blue flowering plants. It consists of perennial plants known for their robustness, attractive foliage, and abundant flowering from June to September. They create a dynamic and fresh scene, perfect for the summer season. These 6 plants can cover approximately 1 m² within 2 years. The yarrows spread as ground cover through stolons, allowing the border to expand over time.

The collection includes:

x 1 Achillea 'Moonshine': bright yellow flowers, silver-grey feathery foliage. Height: 50 to 60 cm. Flowering: June to September.

x 1 Achillea filipendulina 'Cloth of Gold': large golden yellow flowers, dark green fern-like foliage. Height: up to 1.20 m. Flowering: July to September.

x 2 Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Little Spire': lavender-blue flowers, grey-green foliage, aromatic when crushed. Height: 90 cm. Flowering: July to September, possibly October.

x 1 Coreopsis grandiflora 'Sunray': double golden yellow flowers, dark green foliage. Height: 40 cm. Flowering: June to August.

x 1 Achillea 'Hella Glashoff': pale lemon yellow flowers fading to light yellow, dark green foliage. Height: 70 cm. Flowering: June to August.

These varieties should be planted in spring or early autumn, in well-drained soil and full sun. Plant the tallest varieties like Achillea filipendulina 'Cloth of Gold' at the back of the border to create a vertical structure. Place Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Little Spire' and Achillea millefolium 'Hella Glashoff' in the centre for a beautiful transition of height. Coreopsis grandiflora 'Sunray' and Achillea 'Moonshine' will find their place at the front, creating an explosion of colours. Maintain a spacing of 40 cm between each plant to ensure their optimal development.

These plants in this selection pair perfectly with lavenders in a harmonious mix of blues and yellows. Add some gaillardias to spice up your border with touches of red and orange. The 'Magnus' coneflower will bring height and shades of pink to your composition. Place the lavenders and gaillardias at the front, mix the achilleas and perovskia in the centre, and position the echinaceas at the back for a balanced and dynamic result.
