This Affut'cap sharpening stone, made of corundum, with an oval section, is perfect for efficiently sharpening and restoring the edge of knives used for harvesting lettuces or cauliflower. This accessory, used like a sharpening steel, is the ideal solution for sharpening blades in the field.

Corundum represents a family of very hard rocks, among which are found ruby and sapphire. It is the origin of emery, widely used as an abrasive due to its hardness, slightly inferior to that of diamond, but superior to that of metals like steel. The corundum used to make most sharpening stones is a very hard synthetic stone with similar characteristics. It is commonly used dry or lightly oiled to "wear down" and thin the cutting edge of knife blades to make them sharper. The user rubs the knife blade on the stone, on one side and then the other, repeatedly, until a satisfactory sharpness is achieved.

Tips

Directions for use This Affut'cap sharpening stone is the essential tool for restoring sharpness to the blades of knives used for harvesting salads or cauliflowers, for example. It can be used dry or lightly oiled. The sharpening steel or knife sharpener should always be longer than the knife blade. Hold the sharpening stone in one hand and the knife in the other. The knife is placed above the sharpening stone. Tilt the knife so that the angle between the blade and the sharpening stone is 15 - 20° (59 - 68°F). Slide the edge in a semi-circular motion, using the full length of the stone: the tip of the blade slides towards the tip of the knife in a circle. During this process, apply slight pressure to the blade. Then, place the knife back under the sharpening stone at an angle of 15 - 20° (59 - 68°F). Slide the blade in the same manner on the steel. Repeat this process 6 to 8 times. Store your sharpening stone away from the elements and sunlight. Clean the blade after use.
